I thought the first posting I made should be one that explains the title of my blog. It comes from the scripture in Isaiah that says “They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” (Isaiah 61:3)
So what does it mean to be a display of God’s splendor? God’s splendor can be described in numerous ways, but for me God’s splendor is shown in the life of a person dedicated to him. It’s not a perfect life, just a dedicated one. Someone who shows God’s splendor is someone who loves God and let’s his light shine in the way she lives. Maybe she doesn’t always say the right thing or act the right way, but her heart is in the right place. It’s not a person who looks perfect on the outside, but because of what she’s been through, she always shows mercy to another. It’s someone that loves the unlovable because she remembers what it was like before she trusted the love of Christ. It is someone who encourages, uplifts and forgives as a lifestyle. It is someone that truly understands the heart of God and wants to share that love with anyone and everyone.
God’s splendor is shown in so many things, you can not deny his existence. It is shown in the field of wildflowers or the beautiful foliage that is displayed just before the cold of winter comes. It is heard in the laugh of a child or felt in the hug of someone who cares. But for me, the most beautiful display of his splendor is a life that truly reflects the love of God.
